Moving to Dubai

Dubai is one of the most developed cities in the world. The Emirate is perfect for business in terms of simplified taxation and geographical location. The sea, clean beaches and warm climate create all conditions for a resort holiday. Luxury real estate with a high income is a good object for investment.

Life in the United Arab Emirates is constantly improving, and it is not surprising that thousands of people annually decide to move to Dubai. If you are also thinking about changing your place of residence, Mayak Real Estate experts will help you organize the whole process successfully and relatively quickly.

What you need to move to Dubai: documents and visa

If you are just planning to visit the country and take a closer look for further relocation, there will be no resident visa on the list of what you need to travel to Dubai. Citizens of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia and 18 other countries have the right to visa-free visits to the United Arab Emirates. Upon arrival, a free visa will be issued directly at the airport, which allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days.

Documents

Entry to Dubai is possible if you have such documents:

  • passport — its validity period should not expire in the next 6 months;
  • children’s passports (if you are traveling with children) — if you and your child have different surnames, you will also need a notarized original and an English-language copy of the birth certificate;
  • medical insurance — it should also cover the costs of COVID-19 treatment;
  • a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 with a QR code, a negative PCR test for COVID-19 with a QR code made in the last 48 hours before arrival, or a medical certificate stating that you were ill with COVID-19 within 30 days before arrival in the UAE;
  • completed declaration of health status.

To obtain the status of a resident of the UAE, additional documents may be required. This may be a birth certificate, marriage certificate, diploma of education, professional certificate, etc. The papers need to be translated into English or Arabic and notarized.

If you cannot imagine your life in Dubai without a pet and plan to move with it, you need a passport for the animal and its copy, an import permit, and an original vaccination card. Also, a valid original medical certificate from your country, and an original certificate of neutralization of serum against rabies.

Visa

Do you require a visa to Dubai for 90 days, you already know: it will be put in your passport at the airport. But if you plan to stay in the country for a longer period, you will need a resident visa.

The rules of entry to the UAE for a long time provide for obtaining a resident visa. What kind of visas are there:

  • Work visa — to get a work visa, you need to get a job in a company. This visa is issued by the employer, and even before the employee arrives in the country. Foreigners over the age of 18 can work in the UAE and, accordingly, apply for a work visa;
  • Investment — resident status can be obtained by buying a property in Dubai or another emirate. Depending on the number of funds invested, you can apply for an investor visa for a period of 6 months to 10 years;
  • Freelancer visa — a visa for remote work allows a foreigner to live in Dubai with his family and work for a foreign company. Such a visa is valid for 12 months, but it can be extended for a longer period;
  • Student visa — this visa can be obtained by an expatriate student living in Dubai over the age of 18. The validity period is 12 months, but students with high scores can apply for a visa for 5 years at once;
  • Pension — foreigners of retirement age can apply for a 5-year visa with the possibility of extension, while the spouse and children can get the right to stay;
  • Golden — a golden visa to the UAE is issued for living, working and studying in the UAE, while it is not necessary to have a national sponsor. A golden visa can be obtained with 100% ownership of a business on the mainland of the country, with the presence of public investments for $2.7 million. Also, being a professional in an important industry or a distinguished high school graduate with an average score above 95%.

It is quite realistic to arrange life in the UAE for your whole family at once. If you receive a resident visa, then, provided that you meet certain financial criteria, you can act as a sponsor for your spouse, children, and parents. The specialists of Mayak Real Estate will help to understand all the aspects.

What are the ways to get to Dubai

There are several ways to immigrate to the UAE. We can tell you how to move to Dubai with the help of investments, employment or opening a business.

Work

The status of a resident of the UAE can be obtained if you find a vacant place in a local company. A foreigner aged 18–65 years can become an employee of the company. Among the sought-after specialties are data analysts, software engineers, doctors, teachers, and business operations managers. A work permit is issued by the employer before the arrival of a new employee in Dubai.

Real estate investments

Another simple, but quite expensive way to get to Dubai for a long stay is to buy a property. To obtain a resident visa, you need to purchase a ready-made residential facility. It can be a studio, apartment, villa, or penthouse. If you have chosen to buy a property under construction, then you will have to wait until the object is put into operation and only then apply for a visa.

If you are planning to buy commercial real estate, this does not give you the right to apply for a 3-year resident visa.

Opening or relocation of a business

Foreigners can open mainland and onshore companies. The former operates on the territory of the UAE, the latter operates within the framework of free trade zones. Also, foreign organizations have the right to open branches in Dubai and other emirates. This is beneficial if you, as a business owner, are looking for new markets for products or more favorable tax conditions. Most companies do not pay income tax, while the VAT rate is only 5%.

Entrepreneurs can obtain a resident visa for up to 10 years with the possibility of an extension.

These are not all the ways to legally get to Dubai for permanent residence. Talented specialists, students, freelancers, and others can apply for a resident visa. Our experts will find the best solution and help you prepare the documents for a successful visa application. We can meet you on the spot, arrange an inspection of the property or solve other issues related to moving to Dubai.
