Wasit
Wasit is a prominent residential and environmental suburb in Sharjah, situated near the border with Ajman. It is widely recognized as one of the emirate's most family-friendly and prestigious "villa-only" districts. The suburb is composed of several well-established sub-communities, including Al Goaz, Al Ramtha, Al Ramaqiya, Al Yash, Al Sweihat, and Muwafjah.
The area is most famous for the Wasit Wetland Centre, a world-class nature reserve and conservation site. Once a wasteland used for dumping, it was rehabilitated into a thriving ecosystem that now supports over 350 species of birds. The center won the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019 for its unique "submerged" design that allows visitors to observe wildlife without disturbing the natural habitat.
